Southern West Bank: Bethlehem & Hebron Governorates

*The Southern West Bank includes the Bethlehem & Hebron Governorates

Access in the Southern West Bank

EAs monitor restrictions on Palestinian access to: Jerusalem at the Bethlehem checkpoint, Palestinian-owned land near the illegal Gush Etzion settlement bloc, and to the West Bank from the Seefer community, which lives in the seam zone. EAs also regularly accompany Palestinians to areas that they are allowed to enter; yet, are hesitant to, due to fear of settler violence. Such activities include walking Palestinian children to and from their schools in the Old City of Hebron, and offering protective presence to farmers and herders to their lands in Area C.

Displacement in the Southern West Bank

EAs regularly document and report on incidents of demolitions of Palestinian structures in the villages surrounding Bethlehem and in the Masafer Yatta area of the South Hebron Hills, as well as family evictions from the Old City of Hebron.

Violence in the Southern West Bank

EAs closely monitor Israeli military incursions, arrest raids, and incidents of Israeli settler harassment, vandalism and violence towards Palestinians, all of which are frequent occurrences’ in this area of the West Bank
